remove ^M at line ending (dos to unix format)

:e ++ff=dos 

slow startup

First, try vim -X.

If it solves the problem, add this to ~/.vimrc:

set clipboard=exclude:.*

This tells vim do not connect to the X server for clipboard sharing.
